Hey! Ready to Explore the Regal and Spiritual Side of Bali?
If you want to escape the crowded tourist hubs and see where Bali’s deepest history and royal grandeur live, this East Bali road trip is exactly what you need. We have designed a beautiful, culturally rich route that takes you straight to the island's most sacred temples and stunning royal palaces. You will travel in comfort, take breathtaking photos, and feel the spiritual heartbeat of the island at your own pace.
Your Majestic East Bali Journey
We will start our morning early at the world-famous Lempuyang Temple. Arriving early gives us the best shot at capturing that legendary, mirror-like photo at the 'Gate of Heaven' with Mount Agung towering in the background. After that, we will drive down to the coast to wander through Taman Ujung Water Palace. This historic royal garden features grand bridges, stone structures, and expansive fish ponds that are an absolute dream for a relaxing stroll.
Next, we step back in time at Tenganan Village. This is a real, living ancient village where the 'Bali Aga' (the island's original native people) still maintain a centuries-old way of life and create incredible, hand-woven double ikat fabrics. We will finish our epic day high on the slopes of the volcano at Besakih Temple. Known as the 'Mother Temple' of Bali, this massive complex of over 80 temples is the largest and holiest on the island. Watching the afternoon mist roll over its dark stone pagodas is a sight you will never forget.
Why Travel With Us?
This is a completely private, customizable day trip meant to feel like a drive with a local friend. East Bali is vast, but our experienced driver guide knows all the best viewpoints and local lunch spots along the way. You get to set the pace, soak in the culture, and leave the long driving to us!
Lempuyang Temple (the Gate of Heaven) is one of the most popular photo spots in Bali. The line for the famous photo can get incredibly long later in the day. Starting early gives us the coolest morning weather and the shortest wait times!
Both Besakih and Lempuyang are deeply sacred sites. Men and women must cover their shoulders and wear a traditional sarong to enter. Don't worry—sarongs are typically provided or available to rent at the entrances.
Yes, the villagers are very welcoming to travelers! It is an amazing place to see traditional architecture, watch artisans create lontar palm manuscripts, and learn about their unique local heritage.
Lempuyang involves walking up a steep incline from the shuttle drop-off, and Besakih Temple has several flights of stairs to explore the complex. Taman Ujung and Tenganan are relatively flat. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.
Your driver guide can stop at a scenic restaurant in Karangasem or near Tirta Gangga/Taman Ujung, where you can enjoy authentic Indonesian food while looking out over beautiful rice fields or ocean views.
