Nungnung Waterfall Bali: 50m Cascade & Jungle Hike Guide

📍 Nungnung, Petang, Kec. Petang, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80353, Indonesia, Badung

About This Activity

You leave the main road behind and suddenly the landscape shifts - cooler air, thicker vegetation, and that low rumble growing louder with every step. Nungnung feels wilder than many of the waterfalls closer to Ubud, tucked deep in a canyon with serious scale.

The Waterfall Experience

At around 50 meters high, the water thunders down with impressive force year-round, creating a constant mist that soaks everything nearby. You can get close enough to feel the spray on your skin, though swimming right under the main drop isn't always safe due to the current. Smaller pools nearby let you cool off after the hike.

The Trail

From the parking area, it's roughly 500 steep concrete steps down through dense jungle - about 15-20 minutes going down, and double that coming back up. The path is well-maintained but can get slippery, especially after rain. The effort pays off as you emerge at the base with the falls roaring in front of you.

Practical Visit

Early morning gives you the best chance at quieter moments and nicer light filtering through the canopy. The cooler highland temperatures make it comfortable even on hotter days. Combine it with nearby spots for a full day exploring central Bali's greener side.
